Make a Tax Deductible ContributionThe importance of education for our students has never been a higher priority. The future of our children depends on the level of education they reach and the educational experiences they take with them. Through the media, we have all been made aware of the financial setbacks that education has suffered due to funding at state levels. For Vicksburg Schools to remain a step ahead, we need your continued support. Charitable Giving How can a person, group or business make a contribution?
One of the easiest ways for an individual or couple to make a financial commitment to the support of the Vicksburg Community Schools Foundation is by making a single direct contribution to the Foundation. Gifts Through your Will or Trust Proportional bequests are perfect for individuals who are not ready to specify an amount. The Vicksburg Community Schools Foundation (VCSF) receives a portion of what remains in the estate after family and friends or other beneficiaries have been satisfied. Specific bequests of money or property in your will benefit the VCSF in many ways. Contingent bequests provide the Foundation with all or a portion of the estate if your other named beneficiaries are no longer living. Sample Bequest Language “I give, devise, and bequeath to the Vicksburg Community Schools Foundation, Tax ID #38-2499765, all (or state the percentage) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal. The VCSF may be contacted at 301 S. Kalamazoo, Vicksburg, MI 49097, 269-321-1006." “I give, devise, and bequeath $_____ or _____% to the Vicksburg Community Schools Foundation, Tax ID #38-2499765. The VCSF may be contacted at 301 S. Kalamazoo, Vicksburg, MI 49097, 269-321-1006." You should check with your tax adviser for details and personal tax advantages. Investing in the Future Becoming a member of one of the Foundation's popular 5 year Club options gives the Foundation Board a solid base to build an active annual budget. A donor or couple may choose to become a Century Club member, $100 per year; a Millennium Club member, $200 per year; or a President's Club member, $500 (or more) per year. The Foundation Board uses the majority of these contributions for immediate educational grants or to cover the Foundation's operational costs.
Another option is to make a contribution that becomes a part of a permanent endowment fund. The Vicksburg Community Schools Foundation endowed funds are placed in the Kalamazoo Community Foundation. The principal from these monies can never be spent; only a portion of the interest generated by these endowed funds may be used for our school Foundation for educational grants. The Kalamazoo Community Foundation states that endowed funds are "For good, For Ever." Donations that are part of any Michigan Community Foundation endowment program are eligible for a State tax credit. You should check with your tax adviser for details and personal tax advantages.
