Dear Parents,

Thank you for visiting Sunset Lake Elementary's web site. As you will see we have some of the best students, staff and parents in the world. As a team we work diligently to see that each child meets his/her potential.

School is out for the summer but that does not mean learning should stop. If students don't practice their skills over the summer, they forget a great deal of what they learned. To prevent this from happening, here are a few suggestions:

- Join the Vicksburg Public Library's and/or Portage Public Library's Summer Reading program. As you know, with anything skill, "the more you practice, the better you get". Thus, the more you read, the better reader you become. Both these locations provide fun learning opportunities for all participants.
- Math games involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts can be lots of fun especially when taking long drives. Playing store, "What time is it?", and mental math helps pass the time and keeps children thinking mathematically throughout these warm months.
- Writing thank you notes, writing letters to family members, keeping journals of vacation events, etc. help develop writing skills and interest.
